Jeff Baird, PhD.
Clinical Psychologist
Intern Supervisor

Jeff Baird holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology obtained in 1990. He is a licensed Psychologist in the state of Washington. His principle area of expertise and experience are with adults, children and families.

Dr. Baird’s theoretical orientation is primarily based on the cognitive model, which is simply the way we perceive how situations influence how we feel emotionally. When people are in distress, they often do not think clearly and their thoughts are distorted in some way. Cognitive therapy helps people to identify their distressing thoughts and to evaluate how realistic the thoughts are. The emphasis is on consistently solving problems and initiating behavioral change.

For two years, Dr. Baird worked in orphanages in Romania with World Vision. Dr. Baird has taught psychology at University of Cluj, Romania, Edmonds Community College and at Puget Sound Christian College. He has given several seminars concerning Child abuse to parents, teachers and students.

Lea Klein
BA in Criminal Justice
Intern/PhD. Clinical Psychology

Lea received her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Washington State University. She is currently a third year doctoral student working toward her PhD. in Clinical Psychology.

Drawing on her experiences as a multicultural individual, she enjoys working with diverse clients and helping each individual feel heard. Lea believes a warm, safe environment is the key for open communitcation between the client and therapist.

Lea sees clients as the experts of their lives who have vast resources for self-understanding that can be tapped through integration of different types of therapies. She draws on emotion-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical therapy, person-centered therapy, and motivational interviewing to help individuals recognize their needs and reach their goals.

Jasmine Morales
BA in Psychology
Intern/PsyD Counseling Psychology

Jasmine Morales is a third-year doctoral student in the Counseling Psychology Program at Northwest University where she graduated with her B.A. in Psychology, specifically with concentration in Counseling and Research.She is trained in Motivational Interviewing and has completed Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1.

Jasmine utilizes a humanistic, client-centered approach to treatment, meaning she emphasizes the importance of building a trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship with her clients. Jasmine holds the belief that holistic care must be tailored to fit the unique needs and desires of each client, so she integrates a variety of mindfulness-based techniques from Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

Jasmine enjoys working with individuals from diverse backgrounds find the right combination of practices to feel heard, heal from the past wounds, and become the person they want to be.

Rose Boff
BA in Psychology
Intern/Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Rose received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Washington. She is currently working toward her master's degree in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Northwest University.

She carries her call with the heart by connecting with people in ways that are meaningful to them. Her practice integrates counseling, culture, and social justice, turning knowledge into powerful engagment with human needs.

Rose applies evidenced-based practices integrating techniques from Person-Centered Therapy, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), to DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) to help her clients to perceive life challenges as an oppportunity to achieve full potential and return to a position of openness to themselves, to their world, and to life itself.

Cale Smart
Bachelor of Arts
Intern/PsyD Counseling Psychology

Cale Smart received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Seattle University. Currently, he is a third-year doctoral student at Northwest University's Counseling Psychology program.

Cale believes that everyone has a story to tell and that every story is valid and has indelible value. He knows culture, race, gender, class and life experience are integral parts of each person's life story.

Drawing upon principles of Narrative therapy, Cognitive-Bahavioral Therapy, Person-Centered therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Cale is committed to understanding you as a unique individual through a lens of curiosity, empathy, and collaboration. His Clinical interests include Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Grief, Identity, Emotion Regulation, and Resilience.

Marjorie Nelch
BS in Education; Music Performance Minor
Intern/Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Marjorie received a Bachelor of Science in Education with a minor in Music Performance from Washington State University. She is currently working toward a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Northwest University.

Marjorie enjoys working with adults, adolescents, and children. She gained experience working with these age groups as a teacher and pastor in the Seattle area over the last 10 years.

Marjorie believes there is deep power and healing in the way humans perceive and tell their personal narratives. Her theoretical lens combines principles of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Existential Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Narrative Therapy. Marjorie believes the creative arts, faith, and spirituality have significant impact on the therapeutic process and welcomes opportunity to incorporate them if desired by the client.

Erik Nelson
MA in Counseling Psychology
Intern/PsyD Counseling Psychology

Erik Nelson has a Masters level qualification in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University. He is currently working toward a doctoral level Counseling degree.

Erik enjoys people of all walks of life and is committed to working with all demographics regardless of age, race sexuality or gender. He is committed to creating a judgement free atmosphere where individuals feel safe and can simply relax and be themselves.

Erik values the role that story plays in therapy. He believes that a healthy framing and handling of our life journey can act as an important source of healing and hope for the future. His theoretical lens blends Person Centered Therapy with Family Systems, Psychoanalytic, Narrative, Behavioral, and Positive Psychology approaches. Given his extensive experience working with individuals in faith environments, he is also skilled at working with men's issues and helping individuals who have experienced spiritual trauma or abuse. Ultimately, Erik carries a strong belief that every person carries immense value and that lasting change, and healing are always possible .

Andrea Gould
BA in History; Education Minor
Intern/Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

Andrea Gould graduated from Central Washington University with a BA in History and a minor in Education.She originally set out to become a teacher and instead, found interest in her students' mental health. This led Andrea to seek further training in the mental health field where she has worked with people struggling with eating disorders, PTSD, anxiety and depression. Andrea is currently working on earning her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in order to better serve people on their path to well-being.

Andrea's approach to counseling is holistic which incorporates the client's emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual states.She draws upon the theoretical approaches of Solution-Focused therapy, Cognitive-Behavior therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior therapy (DBT). While she utilizes these approaches in her counseling, she recognizes and honors the unique needs of her clients and can tailor accordingly.

Andrea is incredibly compassionate and provides a safe, non-judgemental space in her counseling. She believes that all people should be heard and respected. She is honored to be able to support clients in their process of personal growth and healing.
